Thomas Torrance's Recovery of the Spatial Dimension of Eschatology.

Abstract

This paper shows that Torrance attempts to recover the spatial dimension of eschatology after it suffered from abandonment in twentieth century theology. He constructs his eschatology on the basis of his high Christology and his doctrine of the Church as the Body of Christ in the world. He upholds the spatial dimension because his eschatology, indeed his whole theology, centres on the Christ's incarnation and resurrection in relation to the space-time continuum. The spatial dimension is manifested specifically in the Church's participation in the new humanity of the ascended Christ's movement towards fullness.
