Abstract

This article focuses primarily on Job’s final speech in response to
the theophany, found in 42:1-6. The investigation builds upon the
contributions of exegetes including Kuyper, Patrick and O'Connor, and
suggests a way forward that does justice both to the goal of the Yahweh
speeches, and to the Lord's verdict of the friends and especially Job
recorded in 42:7.
